Little chefs

Is Mother’s Day brunch for Mom (in bed or out) on the agenda this year? Then try to make it a family affair by letting the young ones get involved too. Here are some ways to put those future chefs to work.

Everyone loves blueberry muffins. Encourage the kids to mix up the batter and scoop it into muffin cups.

Fruit salads are a nutritious way to start any Sunday. Have your kids choose their favourite fruits and then set them loose to toss all the ingredients together.

Gussy up brunch bagels by instructing the tykes to stir together natural nut butter with cocoa powder and honey. Allow them to spread this chocolate butter on toasted whole grain bagels.

Smoothies are sure to please both the young and the young at heart. Let Mom’s little helpers drop some of their favourite smoothie ingredients into a blender container and whirl into a refreshing morning drink.

Set out a workstation consisting of Greek yogurt, chopped nuts, granola, coconut flakes, and berries. Stand back and encourage your kids to be creative in assembling their own style of breakfast parfaits.
